Hello Exes!

Wow! Where did the year go? Didn't I just see you guys a few weeks ago? As I sit here writing this letter to you I realize it was exactly one year ago today I did this exact same thing. Time flies! Homecoming is upon us again. I always love this time of year. And OMG Homecoming is much earlier this year than last. I apologize for not getting this info out sooner but this really did sneak up on me this year. I was expecting an October date.......but no.....Homecoming this year will be on Friday, September 24th.

I had a great meeting yesterday with Principal Sanchez. She would really like to see us all at the school after our annual luncheon at Mamma Mia Restaurant. The student's are preparing a pep rally for the Ex-Students and the Senior Class. The students put a lot of work into this each year and would really like it if you can come to the school after lunch to see it. Principal Sanchez was so impressed with our large group last year at the school she is hoping to see an even larger group this year. So let's all take the day off from work and have a huge showing of exes at the pep rally this year.

Our time schedule will be a little bit tighter this year due to the Homecoming Schedule the school already has in place. We will begin our lunch a little earlier at Mamma Mia so we still have time to visit prior to the meeting and pep rally at the school. Please pay close attention to the schedule below as the timing has changed by about 30 minutes from last year.

Also this year the school is undergoing some improvements (that I will let Principal Sanchez tell you about at the meeting) and they are using the old student parking lot as a staging area for some of the work being done. That being said we will not be able to use that lot this year to park in. Unfortunately, that means we will have to find street parking this year. I apologize I know that is an inconvenience.

As I am sure so many of us are trying to cope with our nations economy. So too is the Ex-Student's Association. So again this year we will not be mailing post cards out to announce Homecoming. We used this email method and word of mouth last year and it was extremely successful. Please tell everyone you know and pass on this email. We are depending on that famous CHS grapevine to get the word out. As always I know it is alive and well.

Let's make this the biggest turnout for exes at the school they have ever seen! I hope to see you all on September 24th!

Next Year's 75th Anniversary Celebration

2011 will mark the 75th Anniversary of when the doors were first opened to students at Amon Carter Riverside High School. The Ex Student's Association will be working closely with the school on plans to mark this event beginning early next year.

In an effort to start fundraising for the 75th Anniversary the school has donated a block of chairs to the Ex Student's Association from the Carter Auditorium that we will use to raise funds for the association.

At this time we have not ironed out of all the details for the fundraiser. It will most likely be some sort of auction process. We will have the details worked out and make the formal announcement of the "Chair" Fundraiser at our Homecoming Meeting on September 24th.

Note: The school had to remove chairs from the auditorium to become compliant with current ADA requirements.
