The prayer list is open to anyone on the net that needs it. As members of the CHS Forum have found out, the power of prayer is very positive and it does work. Let us know if we can be of service. but keep in mind that we need to update the list every so often. Therefore, I will date each prayer request as it comes in and post the date with the request. Please keep us informed of any changes you need to make. I will start cleaning the board after a month is up unless you make a request to keep it posted longer.
Have just been informed that Ellen Cline Rosenstein '51 will be entering a Fort Worth hospital on June 1 for some serious surgery. Please add Ellen, Rudy, and family to your prayer list.
Just received word that Judson Prince '51 is tied to a dialysis machine. He says that he is not a candidate for a transplant since he has too much arterial damage, but is in good health otherwise. He has been told that he is “super ornery”! However, he does have COPD, but it is adequately treated. For those of you that may not have been around the school during that era, Juddies dad was the Pastor of Riverside Baptist Church.
Praise........Kenneth "Buddy" Palmer '51 called to say that he is still living out west in Tucson near his kids and that after many bypasses and stints, he has now received a pace maker and he feels great. Many thanks for the prayers.
We are told that Cheryl Cartwright Lindsay '69 has MS and is in need of your prayers. If you would add Cheryl to your prayer list the family would appreciate it. Cheryl is attempting to make what will probably be her last Class of '69 reunion in October. We hope that she will be able to make it.
Vicki Barnes Norris '65 just informed the group that Kay Wickman Winget '65 has cancer and is quite ill. Please add Kay to your
prayer list. This lady needs all the prayers she can get.
Also, Vicki informs us that Suzanna McNatt Powell '65 also has been diagnosed with melanoma and will be undergoing surgery real soon. Please add Suzanna to your prayer list.
Pat Fincher Womack '43 writes that her daughter, Phyllis, just recently had surgery and is in very bad shape. Please add the Womack family to your prayer list today.
Geraldine Kennedy-Young '45 would like to request prayers for her youngest
son, Kelley, 45 years old who has been diagnosed with colon cancer which has
spread to the liver, and was given a year to live. He is undergoing
chemotherapy and has only one treatment left for the time being.
In addition Geraldine writes that she has multiple sclerosis and the usual
effects that go with it. But she has been very fortunate that the
disease has progressed very slowly. She says that she is still able to
use the computer and that it hasn't taken away too much of her cognizance, at
least not yet.
Please add Geraldine and her son on your prayer list.
I have just found out that Elizabeth Kay Jackson Frazier '65 has heart problems, has recently had colon surgery and is now going thru 6 months of chemo. She is also a diabetic. Kay has a real positive outlook about her condition, but all the prayers she can have would be greatly appreciated. Please add her to your prayer list. Message from Kay.......
"My cancer checkups are showing no more colon cancer
and I am improving. The doctors will not release me for another three years.
I have had two knee replacements and my knees are doing well and am almost
back to normal walking. I have been blessed and thank everyone for their
continued prayers."
Have just been informed that Glen Herrington '52 has been horribly burned when his clothing caught fire. He is now recuperating in a Dallas hospital and undergoing skin grafts. Please add Glen to your prayer list.
Earl Drake '62 has just returned home
from the hospital where he has been fighting the MRSA
(Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)
infection that has been killing a lot of people around the world lately. He
says that it is treated by receiving a daily infusion of a powerful
antibiotic called Vancomycin through an IV or PIC (Percutaneous
Intravenous Catheter) line for several weeks or even months.
He also said that his diabetes was
keeping the antibiotic from working as it should, so the doctor’s decided to
do a bunch of tests and change the treatment for his diabetes, all the time
trying to treat the MRSA. He is now home with a new schedule of insulin
injections and still giving himself daily infusions through the PIC lines in
his right bicep of the Vancomycin.
Hopefully it will do it’s job in the next
several weeks.
Please add Earl and his family to your prayer list. Update: Earl has apparently in the recovery stage from this malady, but had developed other complications (like Staph infection) that he is being treated for. Keep Earl on your list.
This from Peg Huffman McMahon '51......Please add a prayer request for my #1 son Jim McMahon who had esophagus cancer in 2003 and another difficult time when my husband James McMahon '50 died. We were told then that Jim would not make it either. I am facing another difficult time in October. Jim will be 51 yrs Oct. 15th. He has not been able to eat and keep food down since the 2003 surgery. Please add the McMahon family to your prayer list.
Geraldine Kennedy Young '45 writes...... my son, Robert, had
a severe brain injury some years back. He has been in the hospital and/or
rehab at Health South about 3 weeks now. He is not improving and, as a matter
of fact, seems to be getting worse. He was not able to use his left hand, arm
or leg but now he is losing the use of his right arm and leg as well. He has
redeveloped the signs of paralysis in his throat and is having a good deal of
difficulty swallowing and speaking. His short term memory is very bad much of
the time. The doctor thinks he may have developed hydrocephalus and is
building fluid around his brain. The infection he had in both lungs when he
entered the hospital, an antibiotic resistant strain of staph, has now spread
to his kidneys. He also fell and broke his wrist. I am afraid for him. He
also has Hepatitis C which he contracted during his original surgery in the
hospital. And, he is diabetic.
PLEASE. We need your prayers like never before. This has been heavy on my
mind. Thank you for your prayers. There can never be too many.
God bless you all.
Geraldine Kennedy Young '45
Update: Geraldine sent us the following message about Robert.......Thanks for all the prayers for my son, Robert, when he was so ill. He has had a miracle improvement and is now mobile in a power chair and visiting the neighborhood park to feed the ducks and squirrels. I know the prayers worked the miracle. Thank you and God bless all of you.
Dorothy Albrecht Webb '53 is asking you to add her to your prayer list. Dot has had several brain surgery's over the past few years due to a stroke and infections. She is now in rehab and is doing well under the circumstances. Update: Dorothy says that she is on the mend and thanks everyone for the prayers. Her brain surgery resulted in a severe case of the Staph infection that required partial replacement of her skull. It has taken her 1.5 years to get rid of the resistant strain of Staph. The Doctor who saved her life is Shaski-Kumar at Huguley in case anyone needs a referral. She is well on the mend now, but the leg muscles are pretty weak. She said that she goes to the local market a couple time a week to walk down the aisles with the basket. Her long time companion follows her with the walker in case she needs to sit down. Lately she's done all the shopping without sitting.
Mike Fleetwood '69 was diagnosed about a year ago as having a brain tumor (non-operable). He has completed radiation treatment and has one more chemo cycle to complete. He says that it's been a rough year and all this on top of the loss of his youngest son nearly two years ago to bone cancer. Mike and the Fleetwood family would appreciate being kept in everybody's prayers and thoughts. Update.... Mike says that he has completed all his chemo cycles and as of his last Dr's visit things are looking pretty good. The brain tumor has not shown any signs of growth, and appears to have even shrunk a little. He says that he is doing well, and is now out on medical retirement. Life is good and visits with old friends are the best! He says that he is looking forward to a great Christmas and just taking it a day at a time. Please keep Mike and the Fleetwood family in your prayers for continued success.
A note from Theresa Bailey '83 says, Ruby Riley life long resident of Oakhurst and mother of Jim (class 58), Frank (62), Jack (66) & John Riley (81) is in the severe stages of Alzheimer's. Pray for her health, she misses working in her yard and everyone else's.
Bill
West's sister, Carolyn Mayfield, asks that Bill be placed on the prayer list.
Bill, who suffers from COPD, has recovered from pneumonia, but is still in the
hospital in El Paso in critical condition. Bill's home address is 4321 Loma de
Oro, El Paso, Texas 79934. Updated on Bill.......Bill got to go home, but had to return to the hospital when his lung medication made his heart race. Bill's spirits are good, buoyed by the support of his seven children and prayers. Please continue to pray for Bill.

Genie Myers reports that her mother Gwen Hill Kelley '45 has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. While she is undergoing treatment she seems to be gradually deteriorating.
